Transitional Kindergarten

A Bridge Year with Heart
Transitional Kindergarten at Carden Conejo is the perfect blend of structure and play for five-year-olds who benefit from one more year to grow before kindergarten. In our calm, joyful classrooms, children build confidence, strengthen early academic skills, and develop the social-emotional maturity they need to soar in elementary school.

What a Day Feels Like

Children arrive with growing independence and enthusiasm. The day begins with welcoming routines, songs, and group activities that set a positive tone. TK students engage in hands-on learning, creative exploration, and outdoor adventures that support both academic and personal growth.

Whether working with a small group on reading readiness or leading their peers in a class job, children are encouraged to express themselves, solve problems, and connect meaningfully with others. Every day is filled with discovery, community, and purpose

What We Focus On

  • Building Early Literacy

Letters, sounds, stories, and songs help children develop strong listening skills and a love for reading and language
  • Hands-On Math Play

Through games, manipulatives, and visual models, children explore numbers, patterns, and early problem-solving in a playful, concrete way.
  • Discovery & Exploration

Science and nature come alive through hands-on experiments, sensory play, and asking curious questions about the world around them.
  • Kindness & Community

Children practice being part of a group—taking turns, solving problems, showing empathy, and growing as classroom citizens.
  • Creative Arts & Expression

Music, dance, drawing, storytelling, and pretend play help children express feelings, ideas, and creativity with confidence.
  • Growing Confidence & Independence

Daily routines, responsibilities, and gentle encouragement build resilience, self-help skills, and pride in “doing it myself!”
